Program Description: 

 

MEN ALOUD: LIVE FROM CARDIFF was shot at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff in November of 2009 in association with the BBC, and features guest artists Bonnie Tyler (Total Eclipse of the Heart), John Owen-Jones of Broadway and West End Musical fame, and renowned opera star Bryn Terfel performing a song from Porgy and Bess.

MEN ALOUD is not your typical choir. Featuring lush arrangements of both traditional music and classic pop hits, their big sound and high-energy choreography have captivated a large international audience ever since their triumphant win as Britain’s best choir in the BBC’s smash hit competition/reality series “Last Choir Standing.”

 

 

 

Availability: 

 

The one-hour High Definition concert special will be available to Public Television stations for August pledge through WLIW’s PEP package.

 

Premiums: 

Premiums include companion CD and DVD with bonus footage, as well as tour tickets in selected markets. MEN ALOUD kicks off a first time ever U.S. tour in spring of 2011.

Background: 

 

MEN ALOUD is a choral group from Wales, where men-only choirs are a long-standing tradition. The group was formed by Tim Rhys-Evans, who serves as National Choir Master to National Youth Choirs of Wales and Great Britain. Following their UK media success with BBC’s “Last Choir Standing,” the group’s first album went Platinum in sales. Their second album, released in late 2009, went to #1 on the UK Classical Music Charts.
